The first leg of the trip is a ~2 day 200 mile straight shot down to Hyannis, MA on the south side of Cape Cod to visit the Rasmussens. We have a pretty good weather window so we are hoping to make it all in one go but if needed we'll make a pit stop in Provincetown. Here's a map of roughly our expected trajectory but we are hoping to only minimally use the engine...

A Slow Hot Crawl Through the North Shore

(Note: for the more social media inclined we also started an Instagram! Follow us at @sailing.harvestmoon for more pictures and misc silly stuff ) The second half of June was a mix of continuing to explore the North Shore of Massachusetts, more boat projects and a brief interlude of off grid camping in Vermont. We thought we'd be more bored by now but learning about the boat and her quirks has been keeping us busy. It is certainly nicer to be troubleshooting a boat problem instead of doing...

We Pahked the Cah* in the Hahvahd Yahd

A short(ish) recap of an eventful and restful time arriving to Boston and the surrounding area. The Passage North The passage itself was exhilarating but tiring. Sailing (almost) nonstop for 4 days will definitely take it out of you. Having had the experience of doing a passage with Lisa and Andy from Kinetic Sailing when moving the boat up from Georgia to Delaware certainly helped set expectations and made us much more prepared, but 2 vs 4 people makes a load of difference. The crux for a...

Made it to Boston!

5 days and almost 400 nautical miles later we successfully made it to Boston!! Other than a bit of stormy turbulence night one (leading to a temporary diversion into Atlantic City) the trip was relatively smooth. Our plan is to shoot for the west end of the Cape Cod Canal, anchor outside to make sure we catch the right current window, then continue up to Boston. Aiming to get there by Thursday/Friday. Though a longer stop over than expected, Lewes turned out to be a lovely little beach town. The town dockmaster was super helpful when we had to dock in town to get...

Officially out on the open seas (...of the Delaware Bay)!

And we're off! At 1:45pm Tuesday (June 2nd) we left Delaware City Marina to kick off our new liveaboard life. After careful current and tide analysis (and learning from the local marina that it's extra wonky in the Delaware bay anyway) it turned out to be a seamless and calm departure from the dock. Needless to say it feels a bit surreal to be fully untethered from shore but here we go ! For the past month and half Harvest Moon has been hauled out in Delaware City Marina (an excellent...
